News and Events

Reminder: Plan to be there: Tuesday 27 January – Be Heard forum: IABC eXchange

Get going with the year and join us for an informal networking and drinks session from 5.15pm at PowerHouse People’s boardroom on L4, Deloitte House, 10 Brandon Street, Wellington.

If you're not up to speed with the new social media tools, this is a great practical opportunity to see how easy they are to use.

We will be demonstrating Wellingtons' IABC eXchange site.

This is about making the most of your IABC membership. It's about "having a go" in a safe environment amongst your IABC colleagues.

The IABC eXchange site allows you to not only set up your own blog, but ask questions and connect with communication experts from around the world.

This session is FREE to members and $15 for non-members, please register so that we have an idea of numbers

Communications measurement – the New Zealand reality

IABC Wellington is pleased to bring you the results of our first New Zealand-based research project, undertaken in partnership with Massey University, looking at the measurement of internal communication effectiveness in New Zealand organisations.

Communications measurement is always a hot topic for IABC members – how can we demonstrate results, and what stands in the way.

To advance our knowledge, we provided a scholarship for post-graduate students at Massey University’s Wellington Campus to undertake this research project, and many IABC Wellington members contributed information.

Frank Sligo, head of Massey’s Department of Communication and Journalism and the research team will present their findings at the IABC Wellington Annual Meeting.

Join us to hear their findings and discuss what this means for the communications profession in New Zealand. We’ll be asking for input from members into what other research would be useful in future.

And because it’s the AGM, we’ll be electing a new board for the 2009-10 year – send in your nominations now.

Diary communications research presentation and AGM

As well as the release of this research, we'll also be running our second AGM.

When:  Thursday 26 February 2009

Where: Confidential Venue & Bar, 69 The Terrace (next to Liquidate Caffe/Bar)

When:  5.00pm onwards

Come join us from 5.00pm for drinks, nibbles and some relaxing conversation with your communications colleagues.

The AGM will start at 5.15pm - all the usual format: President's report, presentation of the Financial report and the Elections of officers. This will be finished by 5.45pm.

Following the AGM we'll have a few more drinks and then the presentation of the research findings will start at 6pm sharp!

Check our website at www.iabcwellington.co.nz for more details. You'll be able to register, and find a nomination form too.
