The current economic climate – quick poll and resources

There are many headlines talking about recession and economic crisis. So how has the current economic climate impacted on your communications planning?

Have your say on our new Quick Poll and/or email us your comments so we can report back on what’s happening on the ground.

In addition, you may be interested in the useful package of resources around Communicating in uncertain times that IABC International has put together.

Reminder: Be Heard Forum – What makes a winner?

At next week’s Be Heard Forum, we’re delighted to have five Gold Quill winners, two of whom have also been involved in judging, joining us to share their expertise.

We’ll be welcoming Suzanne Carter (New Zealand Post Group), Karen Jones (NZ Lotteries), Michael Fitzsimons and Nigel Beckford (FitzBeck Creative) and John Bishop (consultant).

Learn from their experience, and also enjoy the chance to informally catch up with other communicators over a glass of wine.

Join us on Tuesday 25 November at 5.15 pm, at PowerHouse People’s boardroom, L4 Deloitte House, 10 Brandon St, Wellington.

Please register, so we know how many to cater for.

Interested in getting more involved in IABC Wellington next year?

We’re calling for expressions of interest from people who are interested in serving on the Board, or helping out as a volunteer, in 2009. We’ll be having a planning meeting in early December, so if you are interested, please let us know by the end of November.

Getting involved as a volunteer is a great opportunity to meet people and build contacts across the communications industry, in Wellington and with regional and international IABC board members and staff.

It is also a chance to take on roles and responsibilities that will broaden your experience and will look good on your CV, while enabling you to be an ambassador for your profession.

If you want to find out more about what’s involved, you can:
• check out the Board job descriptions on the website
• contact any of the Board members
• email us on admin@iabcwellington.co.nz
